Beacon Hill Academy School Parents Association

The Beacon Hill Academy Parent Teacher Association (BHA-PTA) exists to foster a feeling of ‘community’ amongst the parents, staff and students of Beacon Hill Academy. The key aims of The Beacon Hill Academy Parent Teacher Association is:

  • To represent the views and opinions of parents.
  • Help fundraise money for the school and invest in school facilities & resources.
  • Promote community cohesion both within the school and in the local community.

Voice of the Parent

The BHA-PTA meet around 4-5 times a year and receive reports and presentation from the Headteacher and other members of staff from across the school.

The association is a friendly group of parents who are positively encouraged to be part of the partnership and where parent’s views and opinions are very much valued.

There are opportunities and events to attend ‘information evenings’ that have been hugely success whilst being very informative and thought provoking. Such information evenings have included:

  • Proposed Curriculum Changes – 2015-2016
  • E-Saftey awareness
  • How to help your child revise
  • Supporting your child with homework and exams

Their biggest fund raising event is the annual Summer Fayre. This involves the association working closely with form classes in year 7 – 9 and members of the local community.

The association also helps to organise social events throughout the year, whilst at the same time raising funds to benefit all students across the school. In the last few years, the BHA-PTA have helped fund many different items requested by parents, staff and students. In the last two years the money raised has contributed to the following areas:

  • A new community room
  • Stage lighting and projector
  • PE kit for school clubs
  • Charity trip to Morocco
  • Radio microphones for use in the school productions
  • Instruments for the Music Department
  • A brazing hearth for the DT department
  • New backdrop for the stage

The Association also organise social events throughout the year, which are hugely popular and well attended by parents and families. Each year the parents association help organise and run the inter-house quiz night. This is very popular with students and over 300 students attended on average.
